Historically, Jean Becker was a merchant wine-trading house with a small amount of their own vines.
Since the late 1980's, the direction has been to develop a range of terroir wines from villages or "lieux-dits" in and around Zellenberg. The wines are crisp and dry, with a nice body and characteristics of their terroir. François manages the vineyards while multi-lingual Martine manages the sale of wine. A real treat of the Becker house is the pure Muscat Ottonel from the Grand Cru Frohen.
This soil has a unique geology, with bedrock with only a little limestone but pockets of iron, formed under chemically reducing conditions. The Frohen Muscat is dense, yet elegant, character with restrained varietals character. Domaine Becker offers great quality wines at good prices.
