Since 1805, the Plageoles have been producing Gaillac wine from local grape varieties such as Mauzac and Ondenc for white wines, and Duras and Braucol for red wines.
Deeply attached to this semi-millenary area producing vines, Successions of Plageoles have constantly improved and maintained this domaine Six generations have taken care of the Domaine and enlarged it: Jules, Francois, Emile, Marcel, Robert and Bernard.
The Vineyard is located in the north of the department of the Tarn, the area of the appellation Gaillac. Gaillac covers some 2500 hectares and 73 villages.Today, the appellation consists of about a hundred individual winemakers and and three cooperative cellars. The variety of terroirs (three kinds) and the oldness of the vineyard enable Gaillac wine to exhibit great diversity, resulting in a range of dry and sweet white wines, red and rosé wines, and sparkling wines.
Nowadays, there are two distinct parcels: the Domaine Trés Cantoux, in the village of Cahuzac sur Vére, a familial property, and the Domaine Roucou-Cantemerle, in the Castlenau de Montmirail village.
